School Workshops After School Club's Adapted to meet any subject

In our workshops children enter the wonderful world of puppetry. Children are inspired to create puppets and tell stories.

All aspects of the curriculum for year 2 are covered, however these workshops are great for all year groups from reception to year 6.

We spend time showing shadow puppets, marionettes,hand and glove puppets.

Children discuss themes and characters for a puppet theatre and are shown how to create these.

Each child will have a chance to make a puppet to take home.

We encourage the children to design their own puppet and discuss what materials might be needed.

Small performances can be added at the end of the day.

Although these are perfect for themed weekssuch as Book week, Arts and multicultural week they work well with all subjects and can be adapted if you have a specific topic the children are working on.

At the end of the session the children get to meet the Funky Puppets. We discuss how they are made and give the children an opportunity to work them. Not all our puppets are as shown we carry animals and other characters so all kinds of stories can be explored.

As an extension to this you can continue with a six week after school activity. In these the children make more complex puppets, they write scripts and perform. We investigate how different cultures and music can be incorporated. The children use drama skills to build to a performance. At the end of the six weeks the children showcase what they have made and perform to the rest of the school.
